Christian music fans are expected to flock to the Livestock Showgrounds in Mercedes Sunday evening for a special performance by Jeremy Camp.
This Nashville resident has 16 number one hits and is a three time ASCAP Songwriter of the Year.
He was also nominated for an American Music Award and has won five Dove Awards.
He has produced four studio discs and one live album.
Known as a rocker with a preacher's heart, Camp's latest album "Speaking Louder than Before" was created to provide direction for today's young listeners.
"I always had a passion for youth, but this album is really aimed at them," said Camp on his website at www.jeremycamp.com.
"Speaking Louder than Before" was produced by Grammy winner Brown Bannister who also produced Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith.
The album was cut over five straight days and has "an epic feel, haunting strings and plenty of ear candy."
Opening for Camp will be local artist Gabriel from Mission. Gabriel was named the 2009 Artist of the Year at the Momentum Awards. His album "I Need You" is his first solo attempt and was produced by Holger Fath.
Gabriel's music appeals to a vast audience and can't be simplified to one genre.
"There have been times when I write a set of lyrics and try to fit them in a driving rhythm and they just don't go. So I try to led the song speak for itself.
I don't like to be complicated with my songs either. I've noticed that people can relate more to a set of lyrics that they can understand, rather than a song that you have to sit and figure out what it means," said the musician on his website at www.gabrielsong.com.
The concert starts at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $15 for general admission, $20 for preferred admission and can be purchased at iticket.com.
