Photo Gallery: Alex in the RGV ... before, during, after

South Padre Island and the entire Rio Grande Valley dodged a weather bullet when Hurricane Alex's path turned and took the storm into Mexico some 100 miles south of the Rio Grande.

The Island quickly got the beaches clean of seaweed and other debris that washed ashore during high storm tides, and businesses were open and ready for holiday crowds over the Fourth of July weekend.
