5K Blind Challenge Run/Walk in McAllen

The South Texas Association for the Blind invites all runners, including blind and visually-impaired persons, of the RGV to participate in this year's 5K Blind Challenge and to learn more about this nonprofit group.

Sighted runners can take the ultimate Blind Challenge, testing their strength, courage and determination by completing the race blindfolded as they run with a sighted guide.

The race starts at 7:30 a.m. Saturday at Bill Schupp Park located at Zinnia and N. 10th streets in Mcallen. Medals will be awarded to the first three places in each age division for male and female runners.

Entry fees are $15 before June 27 and $20 on the day of the race. Registration is from 6:00 a.m. to 7:15 a.m. Entry forms are available at http://corre.mty.nl/2009/06/22/5k-blind-challenge-runwalk-mcallen-tx/. The first 100 registrants will receive a t-shirt.

For more information contact Francisco Moreno at (956) 491-9619.
