South Padre Island is open for business for the Fourth of July weekend.
The Island was left virtually unscathed by Hurricane Alex when the south made landfall to the south in Mexico.
Since the passing of Alex, Island crews have been cleaning the beaches of seaweed that washed up during the storm, and businesses have been getting ready for the Fourth of July weekend.
Fireworks are scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.
Here is the forecast from the National Weather Service as of Saturday morning.
Saturday: Scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 7am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 88. Southeast wind between 16 and 18 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
Saturday night: Isolated showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 83. Southeast wind between 15 and 17 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Independence Day: Isolated showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 88. South southeast wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 82. South southeast wind around 13 mph.
Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 85. South southeast wind between 10 and 13 mph.
Monday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 82. South southeast wind between 9 and 13 mph.
