Latina, the only fashion, beauty and lifestyle magazine for today’s American Latina—is partnering with leading apparel company Southpole to host two events aimed at bringing a taste of New York Fashion Week to the Rio Grande Valley.
“The Next Generation of Fashion Stars,” an event intended to inspire the next generation of fashion industry leaders, will take place on Wednesday, March 10.
The event is aimed at helping current high school and college students with a passion for fashion learn how to break into the fashion industry. The event will include an interactive panel discussion with industry professionals sharing their own success stories.
Confirmed panelists include successful fashion industry leaders like Janice Welles, Director of Marketing & Advertising of Wicked Fashions Inc.
Attendees will hear firsthand how the panelists were able to turn their love of fashion into a successful career and learn more about the challenges and obstacles they overcame to get where they are today.
The event will start at 9 a.m. at the University of Texas at Brownsville Arts Center and is free to the public. Space is limited. To register, please RSVP to student@latina.com.
On Thursday, LATINA and Southpole will take South Padre Island by storm to host a music-filled fashion show, featuring looks from Southpole’s Fall/Winter 2010 collection. The high-octane event, entitled “Fashion for the New Generation,” will be the first preview of the FW10 collection, which will introduce next season’s must-have pieces, including jeggings and utility inspired attire.
A reception will immediately follow the runway show, where guests are invited to interact with models wearing looks from Southpole’s new collection.
The event will start at 6 p.m. at the South Padre Island Convention Centre and is free to the public. Space is limited. To register, please RSVP to southpole@latina.com.
