Fishing Connection

With the water being so hot the big boys,. meaning the big Reds and Trout, are in the deeper waters now.
Anglers having the most success are fishing channels, shelves and deeper waters.
The style of fishing being most popular is a Shrimp on a popping cork or a Mauler.
 Ballyhoo is real successful along with Mullet.
Both can be used with a cork or on bottom.
The most active places now are the channel north of the causeway and the bridge apron.
The channels along the Island and in Port Isabel are holding lots of big Trout and some big Snook along the pilings.
The Long Bar is holding lots of different sized keeper Trout, as well as the shelf along Highway 100 between Laguna Vista and Laguna Heights.
Lots of nice stringers of big Trout are being taken there with Shrimp on a popping cork.
The bridge along Hiway 48 is producing some big Trout and Snook and along the pipe crossing north of the bridge.
Throw your bait to the pilings and hold on.
Fishing along the Spoil Islands is producing some monster Trout north of the 67 marker.
Gaswell flats have fish there, but they’re not easy to find.
Top water lures are working to bring in the big fish, but not as readily as earlier in the season.
Keep the heat in mind on the water.
Don’t get dehydrated while fishing and have to cut a good day short.
Drink plenty of fluids, have fun and stay safe.
