Man charged in hit-and-run

HARLINGEN - A 33-year-old Harlingen man was charged Friday in a hit-and-run that took place earlier in the week, police said.
Jaime De la Garza is suspected of fleeing the scene after hitting a man on a bicycle about 9:18 p.m. on Wednesday, police spokesman Sgt. John Parrish said.

The victim, whose name was not released by police, was listed in stable condition at Valley Baptist Medical Center Friday afternoon, Parrish said.

De la Garza was arrested after turning himself in at the Harlingen Police Department on Friday morning, Parrish said.

De la Garza was arraigned Friday on a charge of accident involving injury by Municipal Judge Travis Bence, who set bail at $15,000.
