Veteran bikers to highlight Laguna Vista Fourth parade

Parades just seem to fit Fourth of July celebrations, and Laguna Vista is no exception.

The Laguna Vista parade will leave the fire station at 5:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to participate, City Manager Rolando Vega said.

A highlight of the parade will be the Patriot Guardian Angels, a group of armed forces veterans who are also bikers. They plan to decorate their Harleys with flags. Laguna Madre veterans are invited to participate and be honored.

Aztec Astronauts, a local band, will perform.

The parade will end at Roloff Park, where activities for children include an inflatable water slide, an inflatable bouncer, sumo wrestling, and a "cupid shuffle" dance contest.

Smiley the Clown will be there to paint faces.

Hot dogs and cold beverages will be served.

Local sponsors of the Independence Day celebration include Inland Services, Allied Waste Management, and Five Star Builders.
