Zoo Chef

Looking for some hands-on educational fun for your little ones that you’ll enjoy too? Sign your child up to be a Zoo Chef for the day at Gladys Porter Zoo.

Part of the Saturday Morning Fun program, Zoo Chef lets your little biologist get a behind the scenes look at how staff prepare daily meals for over 1,000 animals. Your budding zoologist will even get to feed some of the animals.

For ages 4 and up, the cost is only $10 for members, $15 for non-members and includes a snack, zoo tour and educational materials. Children do not have to be accompanied by an adult, but parents are welcome to share the experience.

The class is from 10 a.m. to noon and pre-registration is required by calling 956-548-WILD. The Gladys Porter Zoo is located at 500 Ringgold St. in Brownsville and is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Educational programs for children are available every Saturday morning.
