Marcello's: more than Italian
Since 1988 Marcello’s Italian Restaurant has been providing the locals and tourists alike with a unique dining experience.
The building was once the Old Lighthouse Grocery, a landmark in downtown Port Isabel that had withstood several hurricanes.
Converted into the restaurant by Manuela Stevenson, it has been owned and operated for the past decade by Ebbie Ahadi and now transports guests back to a Mediterranean world with its charming décor and candle-lit atmosphere.
Ahadi said the secret to ten years of success is “hard work and we take pride in what we do.”
Yes Marcello’s is great Italian, but if you’re thinking you want more of the coastal dining experience, this is the place.
They have a sumptuous selection of seafood dishes like the Seafood Fiesta, a collage of shrimp, scallops and mussels in a tomato and fresh basil sauce. Or Marcello’s Favorite: shrimp, scallops, oysters, fish and stuffed crab that come broiled or fried.
Looking for a truly unique dish? Try the Red Snapper Sicilliana; it’s topped with large shrimp and artichoke in a light rosemary sauce.
Their more traditional fish offerings include Grilled Salmon, Blackened Red Snapper and Flounder. Prices range from around $15 to $20.
Marcello’s also offers several veal and chicken dishes, succulent steaks and lamb chops, as well as a full Italian and appetizer menu.
Let your server recommend one of their many wines to top of a perfect meal and finish it up with a selection from their decadent dessert menu.
Lunch is served from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily and includes sandwiches, homemade lasagna, all you can eat specials and brick oven pizzas. There’s even a low carbohydrate menu. Most lunch dishes are around $8.
Enjoy happy hour from the full service bar every day from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and live music Friday and Saturday evenings.
Don’t forget to visit the Lighthouse Pub. It’s a great little bar favored by locals where you can sing karaoke.
It’s part of Marcello’s, but occupies its own space and doesn’t interfere with the ambiance of the main dining room.
Marcello’s also caters and was voted the best Italian food restaurant by readers of the local newspaper.
They’re located at 110 N. Tarnava Street right next to the Port Isabel Lighthouse. Hours are 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. seven days a week. the Lighthouse Pub stays open later.
