Brown pelicans find new home in Texas

ROCKPORT — Twenty brown pelicans from Louisiana that were exposed to oil from the massive spill in the Gulf of Mexico have been cleaned and released in south Texas.

The pelicans were released Wednesday at Goose Island State Park. The U.S. Coast Guard had brought them from Hammond, La., to be released at the park near Rockport.

The Corpus Christi Caller-Times reports that about 200 pelicans have been relocated to the Coastal Bend area since June.
