Winter Texan music festival returns to SPI
It’s a Winter Texan all-star music festival and it happens at Schlitterbahn on South Padre Island next week.
The third annual WinterFest Music Festival is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 25 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
“This is a showcase of Winter Texas musical entertainment with artists from throughout the Valley, and many of the artists have performed around the country, including Branson,” Schlitterbahn marketing director Mike Bigelow said.
Bigelow said attendance topped 1,000 people last year and he anticipates another good crowd this year.
“There’s a lot of repeat business because many Winter Texans look at this festival as their own spring break,” he said.
The all-day festival includes lunch at Schlitterbahn’s Shrimp Haus restaurant, featuring a fish or shrimp basket, cole slaw and hushpuppies. Happy hour specials will be featured all day, including $1.50 draft beer.
Artists popular with Winter Texans like Cindy Renee & Company, Jeff Gordon, Gordy and Debbie Wensel, Susan Hudson Carman, Gary and Patsy Crane, Punches Family, John Sager and South Padre Island’s own Leslie Blasing will entertain under a covered pavilion with beach access.
Bigelow said plenty of seating is available to accommodate the crowd, and there will be a dance floor. Multiple vendors will be on hand and there will be a variety of giveaways throughout the day.
Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the gate. Call 956-772-7873 for tickets and more information.
