16th Annual San Benito Elks Charity Golf Tournament

Local golfers will be competing for a good cause March 16 at the annual San Benito Elks Charity Tournament.

Play begins at Treasure Hills Country Club with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.

The tournament is open to the public. It will be best ball and will award prizes to the first, second and third foursomes.   Prizes also will be awarded for the longest putt, longest drive and closest shot to the pin.

The entry fee is $50 per golfer and includes lunch at the San Benito Elks Lodge. Prizes will be awarded at the luncheon. Foursomes should register at the San Benito Elks Lodge 1661, 251 North Reagan, San Benito.  The lodge telephone number is 956-399-1351.

Proceeds from the tournament will go to the Elks National Foundation.

“The foundation funds scholarships, handicapped children, drug awareness programs, and provides help for homeless veterans from Texas,” said tournament chairman Earl Groh said.

“Most of our funds go to help local handicapped youth,” Groh said.
